Note from GSG™:
It’s important to understand that the overall volume of the terrorist database has not increased because there are more terrorists out there today than there were before, but because we are now better able to lift up the rocks they’re hiding under and expose them for who they are.
It does also serve as a reminder that the bigger threat these days is not a specific religious group or other group, but some whacko acting on his own. He won’t be discussing his plans on social media or with friends. He’ll be stewing in his own bubble of anger and insecurity at home while he sharpens his knives, orders questionable items on Amazon, draws up maps of buildings or streets. He may or not be Muslim, or Christian, or even an atheist. It won’t matter – he’s out there. Your responsibility is to stay vigilant.
“Right now, as I sit here, we’re currently investigating about 5,000 terrorism cases across America and around the world and about a thousand of those cases are homegrown violent extremists and they are in all 50 states,” Wray said in his prepared testimony.
“Our terrorist identities database has expanded by well over an order of magnitude since 2003,” he added.
